Michael Owen will return to Liverpool Football Club in a month’s side.
The England international enjoyed an eight-year spell in the Reds first team from 1996 to 2004, scoring an impressive 118 league goals in 216 appearances.
Owen helped the Anfield club to the FA Cup, the Uefa Cup and two League Cups, as he established himself as the most lethal striker in English football.
Such records would guarantee a warm welcome upon his return to Merseyside on October 25...if he wasn’t set to return in the colours of his new club, Manchester United.
“Our fans are usually brilliant with former players but he might get a cool reception,” Liverpool’s Jamie Carragher said. “I can understand the fans’ point of view.
“Michael has got his own career to think about. He wants to play in the Champions League and get back into the World Cup squad. The move gives him that opportunity.
“It will upset some fans but that’s football.”
