Get the 3 in Trinadad

The US needs to go all out and play that hard nosed defense that has gotten them to this point. They need the 3 points against Trinidad and Tobago. So what is the big deal, seven of the US's top players need only one more yellow card before having to sit the next game. That would mean players like Landon Donovan, Jozy Altidore, Carlos Bocanegra, Ricardo Clark, Clint Dempsey, Benny Feilhaber and Steve Cherundolo might not be available when the US visits Honduras. The deal is that its in Honduras and that is going to be a tough win anyway. I would rather take my shot at T&T and get the 3 points there than be tentative and be forced to go to Honduras and have to win. Get the 3 points now. We follow up with Costa Rica back here on our turf. That is the one that I might be more worried about needing a points in that game than in Trinidad & Tobago.

Owen's set to return

Michael Owen will return to Liverpool Football Club in a month’s side.

The England international enjoyed an eight-year spell in the Reds first team from 1996 to 2004, scoring an impressive 118 league goals in 216 appearances.

Owen helped the Anfield club to the FA Cup, the Uefa Cup and two League Cups, as he established himself as the most lethal striker in English football.

Such records would guarantee a warm welcome upon his return to Merseyside on October 25...if he wasn’t set to return in the colours of his new club, Manchester United.

“Our fans are usually brilliant with former players but he might get a cool reception,” Liverpool’s Jamie Carragher said. “I can understand the fans’ point of view.

“Michael has got his own career to think about. He wants to play in the Champions League and get back into the World Cup squad. The move gives him that opportunity.

“It will upset some fans but that’s football.”
